Background

Alwa Foundation is a Community Based Resource Centre (CBC, Not for profit) for Supporting and improving literacy and Learning in Primary and Secondary schools through Information and Communication Technology and Empowerment of out of school youth especially young mothers with knowledge and skills.

It is registered by the District Local Government (AL/CS021/17/013) and is self-governing. The Center started as a community library in 2008 in the Family house that provided assorted text books, novels, story books and newsletters with income from their savings. During holidays, several primary pupils and secondary school students started attending in overwhelming numbers to access the then small facility, this being the only Library in the district to-date
Through family savings and support from friends the library was then developed to a modern library, a computer laboratory was also introduced and a tailoring training classroom
