First Graduation Ceremony
A total of 32 students of Alwa Foundation Resource Centre, Kaberamaido district were
on Sunday Graduated in different departments.
The function that was presided over by Mr. Elotu Isaac, a graduate of Bachelors in
Education saw 22 students graduate with National Certificate in Tailoring and design
and 10 students in Information and Communication Technology under Directorate of
Industrial Training (DIT)
The guest of honor, Pastor Dave Watermulder, pastor of Presbyterian Church of Los
Gatos, California, who are prime donors to Alwa Foundation, thanked the Foundation
for supporting the skilling of youth especially vulnerable young mothers who are victims
of early marriages and gender based violence.
He also commissioned a 5 room new Class block that was recently constructed through
funding from the Presbyterian Church of Los Gatos for Tailoring and hair dressing
departments.
Mr. Joel Eliot Elotu, the Coordinator/Administrator of Alwa Foundation during the
Ceremony applauded students for the great performance saying all candidates who sat
in all departments passed with high grades.
He also said the school has enrolled two new courses of hairdressing and Catering in a
move to improve the livelihood of young people.
Subsequently, Mr. Elotu also said Alwa Foundation by March 2023 will become a youth
Centre point were all youth will be free to visit and let health Education, consoling and
guidance, life skills coaching, and health services as a new project for the youth.
Mary Akiyo Emenyu the Founder of Alwa Foundation based in the United States who
was also presented during the function thanked parents and the communities around for
embracing the new projects that Alwa Foundation is offering.
She also pledged more support especially to ensure vulnerable youth so that their lives
may be improved.
Alwa Foundation is a registered Community Based Organization and Institution since
2019 and has trained over 300 youth in Tailoring and Computer with other services like
Free Public Library, Catering Services, Videography, Community Based Outreach
programs, among
